To a fault, I am more of a “doer” than a “thinker”.
I get an idea and “Boom!”–I’m on it.
For this reason, I make an enormous amount of mistakes, change my mind incessantly and cause myself tremendous mental pain.
I admire individuals who can thoughtfully and carefully consider every aspect of a situation before acting, taking into account every possible outcome before making their first move.
Having said that, I hold firm to my belief that many times it’s necessary to simply start “doing” in order to learn what to do, or, many times, more importantly, what not to do. A multitude of people in this world “think” themselves all the way to their grave without ever “doing” what they thought about for decades. At some point, you just have to go for it. As my husband always says, “Potential is pointless without action.”
When I created littlebittybusiness.com, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to write about. Deep down I knew I just had to get started and see where it went. By choosing a generic name, I could write about “little bits” of anything and everything.
But, after creating about 30 blog posts, I discovered what my readers tend to respond to and engage with most. And the beautiful thing is, the topics my readers respond most positively to happen to be exactly what I’m most passionate about. Win win.
I’ve been meeting with a mentor for almost a year now, and because of her encouragement, I’ve written my mission statement.
My mission is to restore, create and encourage vision in others to explore all that’s possible.
So, with my mission in mind, my old blog name (little bitty business) has become “meh” to me. I am no longer unsure of what I want to write about.
I want to encourage you. I want to inspire you. I want to create for you. I’m passionate about restoration in absolutely anything: furniture, homes, and especially people. Because of this new found focus, my blog’s name is changing to “The Restoring House“.
I would love for you to follow along on this journey.
With my last three blog posts, I have created a painting specifically for the post, and given each of the paintings away to my readers.
For this blog post, I’m going to do something a little different. I want you to tell me what inspires you.
What is your favorite Bible verse? Favorite quote? Inspiring or encouraging words? Your mission statement? Something, anything that moves your spirit. I want to know! And I bet it will inspire others too! I am going to choose one of my readers as a winner, and make them a painting with their chosen words, colors and fonts. I will even pay to have it shipped to you if your comment is chosen.
****Here are some ideas to get your creative ideas flowing**** “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year” -Ralph Waldo Emerson. *** “Live in such a way that those who know you, but don’t know God, will come to know God because they know you.” *** “The world is filled with nice people. If you can’t find one, be one.” *** “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” -Pablo Picasso ***
Here is what I would love to see happen (in no particular order) if you’re interested in entering to win:
1. “Like” my Facebook page, “The Restoring House” by clicking here. As a bonus (but not necessary to enter): “Suggest” my page to your friends (there’s a button for suggesting a page on The Restoring House Facebook page).
2. Comment on THIS POST (not Facebook because I cannot see all of the comments on Facebook), telling me what sign (what inspiring words) you’d like for me to paint for you.
3. Sign up to receive my monthly (sometimes twice a month) newsletter by entering your name and email here, or at the bottom of this post. That way you won’t miss a post (or giveaway).
I will choose a winner within the week. I would be extremely grateful if you would share this post on Facebook so that others will know I have changed my name.
****UPDATE**** Tommi won the painting.
Thanks so much for all of your support and encouragement.
