  • I get asked about this green piece in my pictures a lot. The color is La Fonda Plaza Green by Valspar. I drew a picture of what I wanted the piece to look like, with measurements, and gave it to my contractor and he built it just the way I imagined. I told him I wanted it to look old, so he distressed the drawer edges a touch and put a bit of dark stain on top of the paint. I purchased the hardware on a website called Historic Houseparts. The top is pine stained dark walnut. If you have any other questions, let me know! Happy Thursday!
  • I’m so happy to join the girls at #decorfromthesoul this week:)

💕Happy Wednesday friends !💕 .

We want to welcome Laura @therestoringhouse as our feature for #decorfromthesoul this week . We chose her as a guest host because we all loved her story about her grandmother’s vanity

💕Laura recently refinished her grandmother’s vanity and changed the color. The new color gave new life to her beautiful heirloom and her grandmother’s vanity looks so pretty now. We all identified with her touching story of receiving a family piece that is passed from generation to generation.

  • My tastes are changing. I find myself loving wallpaper, antique brass and a little mix of mid modern. I don’t even know who I am anymore 😂. •
I’m getting ready to design a kitchen and I’m finding myself wanting to do black cabinets with antique brass bin pulls. Would you all revolt against me? I painted all of our honey oak cabinets black in our second fixer upper and I loved it. What do you all think of the mixture of black and brass?
•
Okay—back to the picture. I don’t know how I got sidetracked there. I guess because I think this black shiplap and bronze light are absolutely stunning together. Especially mixed with a pop of white. Everything works well together in this picture. This room is from @houseupnorthmqt and I think it’s just beautiful, peaceful, calming...all nice things.
  • When I put my little girl’s bedroom makeover in my stories, a lot of you asked about or commented on the wallpaper.
•
It’s actually just gold paint stenciled on a white painted wall. •
I used my silhouette machine to cut the stencils from mylar sheets.
•
Someone asked for tips or pointers on this project, and at first I said to just have patience and avoid perfection, but then I thought of a tip. I brushed on the paint with a stencil brush first, and because it would go on so streaky and terrible, I would then rub the paint around with a damp cloth until it all looked smooth and even. •
This one wall took me 12 hours, so it was not a quick project by any stretch of the imagination. •
Oh! And thank you to all of you for your sweet words and affirmation of this makeover! I can’t believe how many of you endured my painful speaking voice on the video. I could barely listen to myself! Like I said, I am NOT made for tv!! 😂

  • This stairway from @carpendaughter. Oh man. 😍
